About James
When he was young his dream job was to have a BBC pass and do something at Television Centre in London, he didn't know what, but knew thats what he wanted to do. Sadly, by the time he was ready to do that the BBC decided to knock it down and turn it into flats, so he settled for Mad Dogs Television instead!
Making such an impression during a work experience shoot for the company he was offered a full time position with Mad Dogs straight out of university. Having now worked here for over 15 years he’s gone from kit room monkey, camera assistant, accountant, bookings coordinator to lighting camera, jib operator, DOP and know manager, running the company alongside Andy.
One of James’s big passions is time-lapse photography, having researched, built and trained up on his own unique workflow James has created time-lapses for many hit shows in many unique parts of the world; From the sunny Caribbean, and the plains of Africa to the cold depths of Alaska.
James is a self confessed nerd, owner of a replica Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler, and a full sized TARDIS from Doctor Who

Personal Profile
I’m highly technical and lover of anything with buttons. Happy to adjust to any situation to get the most of out any production, from camera operator, stills photographer to camera assistant or DIT I am highly flexible in my roles for production. With a comprehensive technical knowledge on a wide range of broadcast equipment, I’ve spent the last decade and a half working at Mad Dogs Television.
In the office I’m often learning new equipment and creating new workflows and on location I’ve worked on everything from high end commercials and idents and hit primetime shows to camera assisting duties and data wrangling.
I got my first inkling of wanting to work TV when I first saw the BBC News 24 top of the hour countdown (video). I loved it, the music and the visuals I thought were amazingly clever and dynamic and as a result I started to teach myself about timelapse photography which the sequence used. From this simple start I went on to discover my passion for television production and using my skills to help others achieve their vision which has developed into a career I truly love.
